Trying something new!

After watching the new episodes at Hobblink.tv, more specifically the episode that introduced other plastic model kits of other series, instead of just Bandai's Gundam line of model kits, I was inspired to try one of the kits that were shown.

The Frame Arms line of kits from Kotobukiya, famous for the Zoids, and Super Robot Wars plastic kits. The Frame Arms line is unique that they have given your the inner frame of the kit pre-made, and each kit share the same basic frame inside. This allow the modeller the freedom to mix and match parts between the other kits.

The Frame Arms line also has various support weapons and other such add-on from Kotobukiya M.S.G (modeling support goods) products.

Some pictures from the manual that is included with the kit. A quick scan show me that the manual is alot less detailed than the ones I'm used to with Bandai's kit ^_^;; But it's still easy enough for me to follow thankfully!!

A look at the basic frame, the base of all the Frame Arms line of kits. The atriculation of the frame is nice, and I would say that much better that some MG frames too!

But despite all the good stuffs, there are flaws too. The joints and parts are loose, much looser than the frames from Bandai's Gundam kits. The legs part below the knee keep on falling as I tried to pose it. And the connection between the chest and torso also keep on falling out ^_^;;

Many modeler have also commenter on this issue, so some gluing would be needed to keep the parts firm together. But then again, it's deal breaker issue to me, so I guess it's shall be a learning experience for me.

Though I had some issues with the kit. With the armor on, the leg keep on falling off easier! Trying to pose the mech, the bottom of the leg keep on popping out as well. More gluing look like it! ^_^;;

These were taken after I had fully assemble it, out of idle curiosity(and hands!) I decided to take the kit apart and pose the inner skeleton more :P

The part came aparts easier than the Bandai's kit, guess that's a must since exchanging of parts is one of the biggest attraction to this line of kit :)

So thoughts on the Frame Arms:

Pro: Nice articulation of the inner skeleton, sleek and stylish Mech design, fully customization parts with various support ad-on.

Con: Loose connectors, parts are easy to fall off, gluing require

While not a pro or con, the kit does need extensive painting to look it's best, might not be a kit for modelers who do not like to paint (like me :P). And I think I shall take up painting to make it look good! And I'll definitely like to try some of the M.S.G parts, with custom weapons and such. And of course more kits from this line!

Gundam in Gachapon~

Unpacking the goods from inside the gachapon capsule.
Various pieces of the figure. The details on these little pieces are remarkable!
The figure even has it's own joints adding to it's articulation.
To think that I would need to use my cutter for a gachapon figure!

Comparison between the old gundam gachapon and the next generation gundam gachapon figurine. Very notable different in size, and there's more articulation in the next gen due to the joints given.

While not a gunpla kit or one of those fix figuration kit, with some pretty good articulation for a gachapon figure, this new type of gachapon gundam is definitely worth getting.

My first kit for 2011! This is the HG Stargazer Gundam, it was release a few years back. But then I wanted one but it was out of stock by then. So happy it was restocked! ^^

This Gundam is pretty unique, why? Because it was built for space exploration instead of battle and war.

SD Exia

So I got bored with the Unicorn Gundam for the moment, I decided to finish up the other kits I had lying around. And it was this SD Exia kit.
I took the metalic green marker that was came together with the set of markers I brought for the SD Gundam Sengokuden series. And I coloured the clear green pieces in the SD kit.

The whole kit still need to be coloured some more before it's complete. I think he need a base a well.

Nendoroid Yay!! Dead Master :)

I pre-ordered Dead Master around September I think, the shopkeeper there told me it would be here around December. December came and pass, and still it wasn't here... T-T

So I was really happy when I got a call on this sun, so I went down to the store and quickly pick her up :)
Her main accessories! I should say weapons of death and pain though....

Hehe, various poses of Dead Master :) Personally, I love the last one the best :) Think I'll keep her in this pose for now ^^ Later I need to change Black Rock Shooter pose to match too XD

OMG! Update! Gundam Unicorn!!

Urgh....this month turn out....really busy for some reason or another. And I didn't have my trusty camera to take pictures of my work. I realise that I could continue without pictures, but I just didn't want to do that. Pictures are a way for me to keep track of my progress....at least that what I think :)

Final assembly of the foot pieces. Conclusion? I realise that I really dislike the plain white colour of the Unicorn body, I will change the colours for the body. Not sure what colours I will colour it, but it definitely won't be black, or grey. Too many Unicorn with that colours running around :P

So that's my progress so far on the Unicorn, guess I will assemble it and decide on the colour scheme as I go along.

Alright! Continuing from my hazel that was refitted with the chest parts from the primrose, I decided to finish up the Hazel Custom as it it, in all it's glory :)

Well, finally completed my first MG kit, with all the finishing touches and even gave it a coat of topcoat. Decals all done :)

Probably the first and last time that the Mk-II will show it's inner frame ever again :P

Ok, finally found the time and motivation to finish up my MK-II. Did all the decals and stickers, and I gotta say I love the water slide this kit came with! So now all that's left is the Topcoating of the various parts, best done individual pieces I heard from various modeling sites. So that's why my MK-II is in pieces :P But due to bad weather today (heavy raining!) I didn't have time to finish topcating it. Did do the weapons, shield and backpack though.

First Mod Ever (The simplest one of course)

So I finally took the jump and made my first mod in any kit, ever. Of course it's the simplest one there is, modding the hands. The gist of it is, getting the last three fingers to move separately of each other. What i Did:

Using a art knife, I cut through the little bits sticking the 3 fingers together. After that it was just getting rid of the excess bits sticking from the fingers.

Heh, I wanted to use a sign that is almost universal in meaning XD.

This is the MG Strike Gundam! The Full Burst Mode, complete with movable funnel! It's my friend, but he say he doesn't have the confident to assemble this....so he pushed it on me! The bastard :P Oh well, at least it's something to try and build to hone my skills, best yet, if I break anything it's not mine! Wakakakakak!

So I couldn't resist temptation...I caved in and brought it, when I was resolved to only get it next month ^_^;; But damn was it worth it :)

I brought it The XL shop in Times Square, same with my Canaan nendoroid too. I only brought this because I saw it when I was getting something for my cousin. Hopefully he will give me pics of that soon :) So if your reading this...please show me ASAP!

There is alot more accessories in BRS's box than my Canaan one :)

So, I finally took the purge and started on my Real Grade RX-78-2 Gundam ^^ The Real Grade Gundam, the first in the RG line, is basically a MG grade kit, scale down to a HG or 1/144 scale kit. Below the armour frame is the inner frame of the kit. Below are the legs which I started on.

If you look carefully, the colouring on the leg is actually made out of 3 different colours, white, grey and a slightly darker shade of grey.

...and this is the part that make me wanna cry T^T ...I broke one of the outer armour on the leg here. I'm thinking on how to fix this ^_^;; cementing it was my first thought, but after some thought it might not be that possible because of the parts that are moving. If I do cement it, I have to be careful that I don't cement the moving parts below.

Somewhere in my last post, I say that I wanted this figure as a birthday present...guess what? I went and brought it! I wasn't even planning on buying anything when I went window shopping with my sister, but I when I saw this, I just knew I had to get it before it sold out ^_^;; And now my wallet is crying T^T But anyway, here are some of the pictures I taken.

HG GN Archer

I got this kit a few months back, and there it was sitting in my room, I sort of found it again after I had stuff it into one of my older finished kit box, I had used the bigger box to store some of the smaller kit boxes, like the SD ones...and this kit too. It was right at the bottom of the box ^_^;

So since I had left this sitting for too long, and I had nothing else to do this holiday...I started assembling this kit.

It turned out...not as bad as I had feared, but not as good as I had hoped either.

Why?

When the finished model was sitting by the side of my MG gundam mk II...it looked tiny compare to it :P and I think that the 00 line of HG model are actually smaller than the HG model from other series, like the UC series, but I'm not sure, I need to double check it later on when I start on my UC HG kits.

I just assemble this kit, there's nothing else done on this kit yet. I need to give it a nice coat of paint...when I get the paints and time :)

Ok done 1 of the SD that came in the 2 in 1 kit of SD i got :) As one can see, i left out all the stickers, the panel line and I only pretty much just assemble the little fellow.

Can't say I'm too happy about this kit though....the first thing i notice? it's a very old model...while the kit may be newly maded, it's design is at least a few year older...that or the older series have very simple SD design. The hand and leg, are only one part, which mean the legs....consists of just the foot ^_^;;

And there are a lot of empty spaces in the frame of the kit, guess I have a need to learn to used putty huh?

In short, to make this look good, I need to repaint it, cement the parts together, add some putty into the empty spaces, add the stickers and then panel line it...and then give it a glossy coat of topcoat.

So today I went to this store in Taman Putra today, mainly to search for colour sprays for my gunpla painting, sadly the shop doesn't stock on spray colour, they only have the bottle paint...but then again it wasn't a total loss, I got tempted to buy this...but in my defense, I've been searching for this kit too :)

The only thing i hate about this kit...is it's original colour scheme....look horrible doesn't it? If it was assemble straight, I'm sure this would look more like a cheap toy than a model to be display ^_^;

This kit is definitely on my list of kits to be colour customize

and it's due to be release too! Next month October! I dunno about anyone else, but I sure as hell can't wait for it to be release!

Well, if you need to ask what Gundam is that, you haven't watched Mobile Suit Gundam yet. But for the experienced, it's the RX-78-2 Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam, striking one of it's iconic pose.

But what that is impressive about this, it's a roughly human sized sculpture. Made from runners! That's right, runners, the thing that hold all the pieces in a gunpla kit.

Nendoroid! Kawaii!!

What are nendoroid? Basically they are chibi, or super deformed version of popular characters from animes and games. That means, they have large heads, with a small body.

Nendoroid stand out from the rest of the other figurine, as they are poseable and their limbs are moveable. Plus they are so adorable! Below are some example:

Hehe, more SD gundam! This time it's the 00 Gundam :)
Next up it's a 2 in 1 high-grade kit. This one contain the RX-78-3 Gundam and the Rick-Dom. I'm splitting this kit with a friend of mine. He's taking the RX-78-3 gundam while I'm going to be making the Rick-Dom. The reason simple really, the Rick-Dom can so kick the weak looking Gundam ass :P
The Musha Gundam MK-II! I've been itching to get my hands on this, but the price was always quite high, so im quite glad to get this at a reduce price even if it's not by much.
This kit also come with some quite impressive stickers! I love them, hopefully i get to bring out this kit true colours without ruining it.

The Gale Strike Gundam and the ReZEL Commander Type are my friend's kits, I'm just looking after them for him, but damn if I'm not tempted to open them and take a look inside ^-^

oh wow...the last time i updated this...was..what? around october..?

anyway, more on my working experience?

what is new...hmm, when i first started out...seem a lifetime ago...i was a new employee at this bookstore. now 6 month gone and pass, and already im consider a senior member! O.O

urgh..being a senior aint what it's all crank up to be. for one...you're most responsible for your job, your junior, and getting the job done right!

you get to deal with the customer, oh yeah...always nice to hear compliment from them :)
but...it's also terrible to get scolded when you didnt even do anything wrong... urgh....moving along...

but yeah, so far, i got more good experience on this job than bad!

regarding the store...now it's our annual stock check.

for those who are not familiar with retail industry, a stock check, means a manual count of your store's stock.

brief explanation- a stock check is
1) to ensure all the stock in the store are accountable for
2) if the stock number arent correct, this is the time for the store to correct it.
3) a pain in the ass :P

what they do it..

they give you a scanner, some shelfs to count and there your off to counting land...

sound good( i mean bad but if you get the idea)?

better still! the manual's manual count!
what?? what is that you ask?

well, for items without a price with barcode, like say magazine, stanionary and other things like that!

yay! what fun!

urgh...which remind me....im going to be working full on that day too...and while other collegue get to go home earlier than usual...i get to stay all the way till closing time

hey! been a while since i last posted anything...2 months if what my sis(and the sign in confirmation) say is correct.

i have no excuse, maybe one though :P i got a job! working in MPH, a local chain-retail bookstore.

MPH is short for, Malaysia Publishing House, it was founded more than 100 years ago, by the Methodist, back then it was known as Methodist Publishing House..i think, that was what was written in the employee booklet that was given. maybe it was nerve? i dint really remember what i read

it's all a new experience for me!

working...it's not as bad but not as good as people say, like all things, i kinda have to say so-so, it was kinda interesting, sometimes fun to work in a bookstore. and you learn lot of things.

and man, will i ever not displace a book ever again while browsing through the aisle! after being the poor worker that had to arrange and hunt down all stray book, not belonging in the correct section was an eye-opener. now, when ever i see displaced books or mess up section, or books being left on top of the shelf, i wish i had a voodoo doll, that i can attach the customer item and pin cushion them!

so i like to say, please, put back all the books in the proper place after you read them! think about the poor bookstores employee who has to clean up after you!
...if not, don be too surprise if you find yourself experiencing needle-like pains all over your body! ye have been warned!

Movies Watching!

plenty to watch this month(last month too), coming up would be Batman: The Dark Night, Hellboy 2, Wall-E to name a few...

what i watched recently...hmm, The Happening, Wanted and Kung Fu Panda

brief summary?

The Happening, was a pretty predictable film, with lot of gruesome deaths, what make the movie enjoyable?

the lovable yet slightly bubbling high school teacher Eliot, and the humour in the film while still being pretty dark.

i enjoy it, that's all that matter in the end no?

Wanted, another one of those movies based off comicbook. i went in to the show, thinking this "another over the top action movie, with very attractive woman wearing little, a hulking hero and lot of unrealistic action scenes...please, do something else why dotcha!!"

or something along those lines...turn out..i was wrong except for the unrealistic action scenes past. turn out they didnt have a hero that has great muscle and big abs, nope..they had a loser, accountant with a very boring life...oh and they did have a very attractive woman too.

the show had lot of blood, gore and violence, it also had humour and funny parts between it, it's one of those movies, where the right combination of things make it a very enjoyable movie to watch.

it's great to go in without any expectation, and coming out with an enjoyable experience. better going in with lots of expectation..yet getting any enjoyable experience from it, right?

and Kung Fu Panda...wow...i got nothing to say about it, except that you should watch it if your a big fan of action, kung fu and humour movie in animation form. Kung Fu Panda promise and deliver!

Jack Black was a blast watching as Po, the fat Panda in the movie, and as an accident chosen hero to fight an evil Master of Kung Fu, totally lovable and hugable!

i got lots more movies to watch this month! woot hoo!

The sun set as she was walked into town. Her hair red like fire, her posture confident as she stroll in, her armour gleam with last ray of the dying sun, her cloak blowing behind her with fanfare of trumpets trailing behind her and the twin blades strapped on her back shined...or it was until she step into that puddle of mud.

"Damn it! Ruined my big cool entrance!" The red head shouted, a few passerby stopped to stared at her, while the rest of the smart one, pretended not to see anything, not when your continuous health is more important than staring at some weird girl.

Finally noticing all the stares she was getting, she slides her swords, "What're you all staring for?" Faster than you can say "disappear" all the starers were gone. Finally satisfied, "Thought you all will see it my way," she continue further into town, looking for a place to crash for the night.

A first time blogger's new star

Well, after much talking and persuading by various parties...I finally manage to drag myself to make a blog. It damn well better please someone!

Am I happy about it? Hmm, I do have a sense of accomplishment. Or something that make me want to pat myself on the back anyway.

What's my day been like? Simple terms, boring, but then most people my age would use that to describe their days in general too. So maybe something much more complicated? ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
And, I got nothing, so boring will have to suffice, for now, until i expand my vocabulary to use much more complicated words.

And anyone who manage to finish reading this? I applause you! It's so dry and boring, I find myself sleeping writing this...I need to expand not only on my vocabulary, but my life experience as well as my story telling techniques.
